Ryan Lee Blu Ray Commentary

For the record, I don’t personally hate Deadpool at all.  In fact, Deadpool is such a saturated property at this point, it’s meaningless to talk about the character as if he’s one identity.  I have fond memories and many issues of the Joe Kelly, Fabian Nicieza, and Danny Way runs.  For the record.

On the other hand, anything as ubiquitous as Deadpool and his schtick can get tiresome.  I know a lot of people suffering from ‘Pool fatigue, and folks, this strip is for you!

I also considered going 180 degrees and having the Dreadfool play almost like Mr. Belvedere in his off hours.  That could have been fun.  In this case, I went for the equally fun hack option of having everybody in the bar hate him.  I like hijinx!

Monster Mike Blu-Ray Commentary

For the record…I do personally hate Deadpool. I just don’t get the appeal. I also don’t begrudge what seems to be the rest of the world liking, no LOVING him. (More on this concept in this week’s BONUS Superpub)

There’s just nothing original about the character. His origin is basically Wolverine’s origin. His powers are…Wolverine’s and Punishers. Even his 4th wall schtick was lifted from John Byrne’s She-Hulk, along with his whackiness. Even his costume is just repurposed parts of other costumes.

I do like Dreadfool, though. That guy is a card! (belly laugh)
