Ryan Lee Blu Ray Commentary

Mike had to go back to the drawing board on this one multiple times.  You hurt for the guy regardless, but it makes it double painful when the joke isn’t even very good!

This is commentary on random wholesale character changes and how the characters themselves might feel about that.  Bendis is pretty notorious for conveniently ignoring anything that came before him, and he’s also pretty notorious for handing Luke Cage a backstage pass on Jessica Jones in Alias. So that’s the reference.

Back in the day, Stan had to dare to publish without a Comics Code Authority seal just to mention drugs in an issue.  By 2001, Bendis had to depict inter-racial butt sex to get anybody to stop yawning.  And now in 2016, we’ve come all the around full circle so that even stuff the CCA wouldn’t have blinked at will rustle the delicate jimmies of the very virtuous.  It’s a brave new world, and pretty obscure joke, and I promise I’ll do better next time!

Monster Mike Blu Ray Commentary

I am the worst. I totally forgot to post the commentary for this comic. It’s no secret that I’ve been off my pace that I set for this comic last year. I’ve got a lot of balls in the air, I suppose.

Turns out, this strip is rather timely as Michigan has just passed a law that makes the topic of this comic illegal. Finger on the pulse, my friends.

I was really not feeling this one and I struggled a lot with it. Not really sure why. I think it’s funny. i like drawing both characters…I don’t know what’s up with me. Anyway, I did a bit of a revamp on the Cleopatriot design and I’m happy with it for now. I looked back on some of her previous appearances and she seems to always just sit there in puzzlement. I wanted to switch it up and have her seem a little bit more Sex and the City and a little less Clueless. I hope that comes through.

For your enjoyment, and in hopes I am forgiven for missing the commentary on this one, I humbly submit my rough sketches.
