Ryan Lee Blu Ray Commentary

I don’t like my script for this one, because I went too preachy with it.  I’m actually pretty immune to the emotional outbursts typical of a die-hard comics fan, but the #rebirth pseudo-news from DC really got to me.

Comics seem eternally plagued by forces pushing them toward infancy.  Sometimes they come from the outside, like Freddy Wertham and the Comics Code attempting to strip everything but the pablum out.  These days the threats are from the inside.  Does Marvel even know what an issue 12 looks like any more?  That’s not somebody forcing them to keep their titles at the embryo stage, that’s official policy they made up on their own.

I’m not a doom and gloom type, not really.  Sheriff of Babylon is as challenging and complex as The Wire, you know?  So it’s not like sophistication is impossible.  And maybe #rebirths are what people want?  I think Mike just wants Superman’s underwear on the outside again.  That seems reasonable to me.

Monster Mike Blu Ray Commentary

When I first saw the Rebirth teasers, I was pretty disappointed. Then, today, I learned that Geoff Johns has plans to reinvigorate the stale state of DC Comics with some legacy. I’m all about that.

Also, a line-wide price drop to $2.99? Hell yes. I may just be buying me some DC Comics in the near future..

Of course, the only thing better than cheap comics is free comics.
